“She selects wool and flax and works with eager hands.”
Jan Vaine is an accomplished needle artist whose elegant hand appliquéd quilts have appeared in quilt show and museum exhibits, magazines and books. She is a highly regarded educator with more than 30 years of teaching experience, including 10 years at the renowned Elly Sienkiewicz Appliqué Academy. She has authored a number of quilting, applique and embroidery books, as well as designs quilt, hand applique, hand embroidery and accessory patterns. Jan continues to design, stitch and teach.
Jan’s works are often inspired by antique quilts, vintage embroidery and nature. Her designs blend old and new for a fresh new look. Her works reflect a keen appreciation for classic stitches, a high regard for vintage artistry, and an inspired use of modern techniques, materials and design.
Jan learned to stitch from her mother, and has been stitching her entire life. She began her pattern design company in 2004 to further share her passion and enthusiasm for needle arts. Named for a beloved family pet, the Graham Cracker Collection offers something for everyone who loves to sew, appliqué, embroider and quilt.
